We needed Robert SOUBEYRAN'S book. We know the problems that keyboard and harp players have to face as far as sight-reading is concerned.
These readings will be most welcome by teachers and young musicians who have to practice in this area daily.
This book deals with contemporary notation and there is not yet such a complete approach to the several ways of dealing with keyboards available.
Finally Robert SOUBEYRAN did not want to limit his research to the study of difficulties, and offers instrumentalists the possibility of acquiring sight -reading reflexes in a musical context (phrasing, nuances, etc.).
People who use this book. which is arranged progressively should always keep in mind that in this area, mere technique is sterile if it is not applied in the service of MUSIC.
