Description

Maurice Ravel: 5 Popular Greek Melodies. Arranged for voice and harp by Carlos Salzedo. Lyra Music edition. Includes two scores.

     I. Chanson de la mariée (Wake Up, My Dear)

II. La-bàs, vers l'èglise (Out There, Where the Church Tower)

III. Quel galant m'est comparable (Which Gallant Can Compare With Me?

IV. Chanson des cueilleuses de lentisques (Song of the Lentisk Gatherers)

     V. Tout gai! (Be Gay!)

The first performance of these songs with harp accompaniment was on March 3, 1930 in Symphony Hall, Boston, with Cobina Wright and harpist Marietta Bitter. As was his custom, Carlos Salzedo discussed this transcription with Ravel in Paris and had his complete approval for it.
