Savarez Gut String 2nd octave F. Made in France.

I have included this string in my comparison of harp strings test out of curiosity. What a strange string. I have not put a blue string on my 23 in forever. The blue varnish started to rub off instantly! Terribly annoying! I get blue on my fingers whenever I play it. Why put a varnish on a string that is going to immediately come off? Makes no sense. The string is also a touch on the rough side, I am used to a much smoother gut. The most interesting thing about this string is its sound. It has a distinctive large, resonant, tone, that is some how hollow in the middle. I would not be surprised if there are some harps a set of these strings would sound amazing on. Too bad I do not have great hopes of it wearing well due to the varnish wearing off!
